Australia's Top Virtual Fitness Programs in Q1 2021: An Overview

As the first quarter of 2021 wrapped up, Australians continued to embrace virtual fitness programs to stay fit and healthy. Sensor Tower's data offers a comprehensive look at the top-performing applications in this category. Here's how they fared in terms of downloads and user engagement.

Fitbit: Health & Fitness saw its weekly active users peak in January at around 238K, with a slight decrease to 218K by the end of March. Downloads followed a similar trend, starting at 22K in late December and dipping to 8K towards March's end. Revenue trends showed a mid-quarter spike, reaching approximately $57K in late March.

Strava: Run, Bike, Hike also experienced its highest weekly active users count in January with over 256K, but it saw a slight increase to around 249K in the last week of March. Downloads began at 11K at the year's start and saw a decrease to 6K by the quarter's close. Revenue for Strava showed an upward trend in early March, hitting over $55K before settling to around $39K by the end of March.

Garmin Connect™, which does not report revenue, had a strong start with weekly active users at approximately 783K in January and slightly less by March end with about 745K. Downloads showed a downward trend from 16K in the last week of December to just over 5K by March's final week.

FitOn Workouts & Fitness Plans demonstrated a steady number of weekly active users starting from 43K in December and marginally increasing to 36K by March 2021. The app's downloads saw a peak in early January at close to 8K but later dropped to 4K by the quarter's end. Revenue exhibited a slight decline from $5K at the beginning of the quarter to $2.6K in the last week of March.

Lastly, PhysiApp, with no reported revenue, showed growth in both downloads and weekly active users. It started the quarter with 2K downloads and peaked at 6.7K in early February before falling back to 4K in late March. Active users saw a steady increase from 23K to 31K in the same period.
